Exporting
Mr.
Fern has had extensive experience in exporting tree ferns and ferns
internationally over the last eleven years.
Main
Products
Dicksonia antarctica
and Cyathea australis
tree ferns are available with trunk length from 6inch (15cm) to 6ft (2metres)
or larger.
Transport
and Shipping
The
Dicksonia antarctica
and Cyathea australis
tree ferns are supplied in shipping containers as FCL’s
(full container loads). Reefers
(temperature-controlled containers) are used to induce dormancy in the tree
ferns during shipment.
Quarantine
and Treatments
Mr Fern is experienced in successfully meeting the quarantine
requirements of many importing countries and has an excellent working relationship
with the Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service (AQIS).
A
new growing and processing area specifically designed to ensure our products
meet European Union standards was established in 2006. Mr. Fern has also implemented an
Environmental Management System (EMS) to ISO 14000 standard for the nursery.
All
ferns are grown and treated to meet the requirements of the importing
country.
Permits
to Export
The
commercial export of all Australian native plants, whether propagated or
harvested is regulated under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity
Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act) administered by the federal Department of
Environment and Water.
Permits
to Export for Australian ferns are supplied with each shipment.
Cyathea species require a Cites Export Permit
and a Cites Import Permit prior to despatch of the
shipment. Both propagated and
harvested Cyathea australis
are listed on CITES to allow for close monitoring of the trade with the aim
of protecting other species of Cyathea from
around the world that are threatened.
Dicksonia species from Australia are
not Cites listed.
